Today, in 1801, Thomas Jefferson was elected our country's 3rd president. This was the first time that the peaceful transfer of power had happened between different politcal parties. Jefferson was inaugurated approximately 2 weeks later on March 4, 1801.Pictured here is the Jefferson china.
