This is the china that Mary Todd Lincoln purchased from the Philadelphia firm of James Kerr just prior to President Lincoln being assassinated at Ford's Theater. Rather simple in it's design, Mrs. Lincoln may have been looking for something a little less controversial than her celebrated "Solferino" china that is more widely known as the Lincoln china.
